CS371p Spring 2021: Shan Rizvi

What did you do this past week?
This past week I’ve been spending most of my time working on a personal project and interviewing for summer internships. I completed and turned in the Collatz project after passing all of the test cases and cleaning up the code.
2. What’s in your way?
When going through the process of interviewing there can be a little trouble deciding how much time to put into preparing for the interviews vs working on school work. I just have to figure out how to manage my time properly so that I can do well in both.
3. What will you do next week?
Next week I’ll begin thinking of different project ideas that would be able to fit the project constraints but also be interesting and impactful. I have my first exam for one of my classes at the end of this week already so I’ll be studying for that as well. I have a couple interviews this week too so preparing for those will take some time.
4. If you read it, what did you think of the Pair Programming?
I’ve found that pair programming can be really helpful in getting work done quickly and efficiently and think that the paper does a really good job of explaining the process.
5. What was your experience of types? (this question will vary, week to week)
I think Professor Downing gave a great explanation of types and how useful they can be for storing different types of data.
6. What made you happy this week?
I’ve gotten a couple interviews lined up for internships and am hopeful about the prospects for some of them. I’ve spent months looking for and applying for internships and it has been a bit of a struggle since PM is really competitive.
7. What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
If you’re like me and have a lot of tabs open at the same time try using the Chrome Extension called The Great Suspender. It suspends tabs that you haven’t used in a while which can save you’re laptop from using up insane amounts of RAM.
