What did you do this past week?

This past week my group and I finished up on this phase. We completed the visualizations, worked on making the website look nice, cleaned up the code, and worked on the presentation. For the presentation we’re doing a video, so we created the slides, split them up between us, and recorded our parts individually. I’ve had quite a lot of work in other classes as well which I’ve been grinding out.

2. What’s in your way?

Since we’re almost done for the semester all the final projects and exams are coming up which has increased my workload pretty significantly. Hopefully I can survive this last week and then we can head out to summer break.

3. What will you do next week?

Next week my team and I will present our video for the final presentation. I also have another final project and exam this week. Most of the week will probably be spent studying and finishing the project.

4. If you read it, what did you think of the The Joel Test?

I think that the Joel Test is a great way to see what things can really help make you a better software engineer. There’s a lot of helpful advice that can really make a difference.

5. What was your experience of Replace Type Code with State/Strategy (227)? (this question will vary, week to week)

I thought that this topic was really interesting and not super difficult to get. It really helped me in knowing how to properly restructure code to be easier to understand and even more efficient.

8. What made you happy this week?

I was able to get a lot of work done this week so that my final week won’t be too hellish. My team and I have basically finished up this phase.

9. What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

As we go into the final week of the semester I think it’s important to take breaks between study sessions to give our brains a breather. Sleep is also super important for us to function properly so make sure to get 6+ hours!
